Adobe Digital Edition adds support for non-linear reading in EPUB3
I don’t know if someone talked about this before, but I discovered that Adobe Digital Edition 4 adds support for linear="no" attribute for EPUB3 ebooks. This means that you can create non-linear islands inside EPUB3. The user will not read those islands until a hypertext will allow him to access the hidden text. Unfortunately the island has not a cul de sac at the end of the file: if you read all the content of a hidden chapter and – after – you turn the page, you’ll exit the island and fall back in linear reading. It is a good news anyway. The next move is now in the hands of Apple: Ibooks has got a awful support of linear="no": the hidden chapter become a web page (?) with (bugged) scrolling. No way to change font size and no way to save the state of reading.
So, come on, we need more and more tools for build non-linear ebooks.

Non so se qualcuno ne ha parlato prima, ma ho notato che Adobe Digital Edition 4 aggiunge il supporto per l’attributo linear="no" per EPUB3. Ciò significa che è possibile creare isole non lineari all’interno di EPUB3. L’utente non leggerà quelle isole fino a quando un ipertesto gli permetterà di accedere al testo nascosto. Purtroppo l’isola non ha un cul de sac alla fine del file: se si legge tutto il contenuto di un capitolo nascosto e si gira ancora pagina, si uscirà dall’isola e si finirà nel flusso principale della lettura lineare. Comunque è una buona notizia. La prossima mossa è ora nelle mani di Apple: Ibooks ha un supporto terribile del linear="no": il capitolo nascosto diventa una pagina web (?) con scrolling (buggato). Nessun modo per modificare la dimensione del carattere e nessun modo per salvare lo stato di lettura.
Quindi, suvvia, abbiamo bisogno di più (e più) strumenti per costruire ebook non lineari.
